Many small business owners have blamed the GST for the country's economic woes. This was proven when the Reserve Bank admitted the GST was the main factor in bringing 10 years of unbroken economic growth to an end late last year.

Australia needs the GST for the long-term health of the economy. Many expect the economy to turn around in June. Don't overreact and blame the new tax system for every problem. The revenue from the GST is too important to give up.
