What is an Rss feed?

So, you like surfing the internet, but hate having to go to all these different pages all the time? Rss makes it easier! Rss stands for Real Simple Syndication. It allows you to "collect" your favorite homepages and put them all in one place so you don't' have to "surf" at all. With some additional software and some simple cut and paste operations, you too can view Vote.com votes, right on your desktop. You can even archive them without having to visit the site!

There are several ways to aggregate an RSS feed. One way is to use Mozilla's Firefox browser. This browser is highly recommended by Vote.com's technical department and has been heralded as a safer, more robust browser than Internet Explorer. One of the features of this browser is that it detects Rss feeds and allows you to subscribe to them. You can find out more about how to use this feature with Firefox here. Basically, Firefox allows you to subscribe to an RSS feed, and puts them in a special folder in your bookmarks file. This way instead of browsing the site every day for votes you missed, you can just look at the bookmarks folder and it's all there!

Another way to aggregate Rss feeds is to get a feedreader. There are free feed readers available on the internet here. These readers are experimental and the reliability of their performance is unknown. However, if you decide to install one, you will need to subscribe to Vote.com's feed. To do this, paste this link: http://www.vote.com/rss/voteRss.xml into the add dialog of your feedreader. You can also go to our homepage, or anywhere you see it, right click on this picture: , and click on "Copy shortcut" or "Copy link location." Paste that shortcut into the add dialog of your feedreader.

We hope you enjoy the Vote.com Rss feed!
