Jack E. Robinson III was born in
Boston, Massachusetts, on May 12, 1960. He was raised in the Roxbury section
of Boston and educated in public and private schools throughout the state.
Jack is a member of Who's Who in America
and Who's Who Among Black Americans. He received his M.B.A.
from Harvard Business School in 1986, his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1985,
and his B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University in
1982. While at Brown, Jack was vice president of the Brown Republican
Club. During that time, Jack also graduated from the Fieldman School of
the College Republican National Committee.
In the mid-1990's, Mr. Robinson founded CELLULAR
ONE. Prior to that, Jack had been a senior airline industry executive and
entrepreneur. He served as manager of market planning at Continental
Airlines, vice president of corporate development at Eastern Airlines, and
president & CEO Bar Harbor Airways.
Jack's business views have appeared in numerous
publications such as Wireless Week, Radio Communications Report, The New
York Times, Forbes, Business Week, Fortune and The Washington Post. Jack
has also appeared as a guest commentator regarding airline industry issues on
CNN's "Crossfire" and CNBC's "Business Insiders" television programs, and CNN's
"Larry King Live" national radio program.
Jack attended public and private elementary schools
in the Boston area, and in the late 1960's was among the first group of students
in the METCO program (in which inner-city students voluntarily attend suburban
schools). After attending Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, Jack
graduated from the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Massachusetts
in 1978.
A sailor, Jack sponsored two of this year's
America's Cup syndicates: Young America and Stars & Stripes.
In 1999, Jack was commissioned a Commodore in the United States Navy
League. He is a descendent of Mingo Robinson, one of a group of black soldiers
who served with General Washington at Valley Forge.
