In spite of alarmist claims by some lobbyists who said the ban would hurt restaurants, more people are going out to eat than ever before. That includes people with chronic respiratory problems, which represent one-eighth of state residents.

If the ban has been such a success, then why are restaurant owners complaining? Probably because they see many of their former customers rushing away to bars where smoking is still allowed. Smokers and restaurants are being treated unfairly.
