Marriage is a Sacred Union Between a Man and a Woman

Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman, something that's been affirmed by 30 states and the United States Congress.  One of those states, Hawaii, was once considered most likely to allow same-sex marriages.

"Contrary to pro-homosexuality activists' rhetoric, marriage is not a construct of man that can be retooled and manipulated," says Family Research Council's Robert Knight. "[It's] an institution established by God and protected through 6,000 years of human history."

We hear that not allowing gay couples to marry is bigotry, that we're denying them a slew of benefits.  But marriage isn't about such material issues.  It's a way to bond a man and a woman for the purpose of having children.  The same intent is behind spousal benefits.  Everyone has an interest in supporting families.

Marriage cannot be changed to include same-sex couples anymore than it can be changed to include coupling between a man and his car, his sister, or his favorite pet.  If homosexual couples like the idea of a committed relationship, no one's stopping them from committing, but it is impossible for them to marry just as it's impossible for them to bear children from their union.   Saying they can actually marry is to call an orange an apple, and to deny the Judeo-Christian ethics America was founded on.

Opposing same-sex marriages isn't bigoted.  It simply realizes one of civilization's basic rules: Men and women get married.  Homosexuals do not.  It serves no purpose for society to sanction such unions, other than to advance the most immature form of "us too" politics.
