Oldsmobile sales have dropped from over a million cars a year in the 1970’s to 300,000 in 2000. Despite generous discounts, Oldsmobiles are only popular among older consumers; younger drivers continue to view the brand as too dull.

The Oldsmobile name has lasted for decades in the auto industry and shouldn’t be phased out due to a slump in sales. GM should respond to consumers’ criticisms and reinvent the division if necessary, but they should keep the Oldsmobile name.
