The new program would provide coverage for sex-change operations and related care. The surgery and aftercare are very expensive. These people deserve the opportunity to pursue the lives they want to live. Compensate these city employees.

The transgender program could cost the city $1.75 million a year if 35 people use the benefits. This is a waste of taxpayer money. Money should be put towards building shelter for the city's homeless or providing better education for our children.
