The United States is facing the worst energy shortage since the oil embargoes of the 1970s. We need to find new domestic sources of energy. Oil development in other areas of Alaska hasn't hurt the environment; ANWR drilling would be no different.

The administration's proposal benefits the oil industry while endangering the environment. Its economic benefits are minimal, since the amount of oil we could gain would be virtually a drop in the barrel. Encourage conservation, not needless drilling.
