Mark Rey, the administration's nominee for Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and the Environment, would oversee the U.S. Forest Service. He has extensive experience in forestry, land management and crafting natural resource policies.

Mr. Rey has previously been a lobbyist for logging groups and has been a critic of the Clinton-era policy banning roads in undeveloped national forests. He also helped author legislation in 1995 that suspended laws banning the logging of old-growth trees.
