| Excellent President George W. Bush succeeded in passing his $1.35 trillion tax cut and surpassed everybody's expectations with his strong leadership in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks. We're winning the war on terror and the country is on the right track.

| Good With early legislative successes and his strong resolve in the war on terror, the president succeeded in easing most people's concerns about his abilities. Partisan division is standing in the way of some objectives, but he is still doing well.

| Fair Bush's successes in 2001 were partly due to competence and partly due to circumstance. America always rallies around its president during a time of crisis, and Bush was no exception. He has done his job fairly well but won't be remembered for greatness.

| Poor America is in recession for the first time in a decade and is facing deficits for the first time in years, and Bush's huge tax cut deserves much of the blame. We feel less secure and our rights are in jeopardy. Bush simply isn't right for the job.
