NBC executives announced that Brian Williams would succeed Tom Brokaw as anchor of "NBC Nightly News" when Brokaw leaves in November 2004. Williams has a reputation for insightful journalism that is unmatched by any of the other candidates for the job.

Williams lacks hard news experience in the national and international scene. And even if NBC puts that aside, network executives can't ignore the fact that his ratings at MSNBC are horrible. He simply doesn't have what it takes to fill Brokaw's shoes.
