These programs are very popular and the fact that they were created by police officers makes them even more so. They have been successful in teaching children about the dangers of drugs and are responsible for a decrease in illegal drug use among teens.

Despite decades of use by the government, these heavily marketed programs such as D.A.R.E., McGruff's Drug Prevention, and Here's Looking At You 2000, haven't shown any significant results in reducing substance abuse. They are a waste of taxpayer money.
