Stephen Twigg, Minister for Young People and Learning, said almost two-thirds of fathers said work commitments were a barrier to them spending time with their children. The Dads and Sons Give An Hour scheme will show how an hour can make a difference.
 

The government should not interfere in companies' affairs by backing this scheme. It could be especially difficult for smaller companies to take part. One hour a day will not make enough of a difference to make this scheme worth the trouble.
