Homeschoolers are encumbered with regulations demanding that they keep assignment logs, year-end portfolios and standardized tests. It's clear that home-schooled children fare just as well as their public school peers. It's time to relax the rules.

Strict regulation is necessary to track students' progress and to be sure that learning environments are safe, productive and successful. While some home-schooled students are extremely capable, continued regulation benefits the entire community.
