Raise The Legal Smoking Age To 21?
Polls Have Closed

A measure to raise the legal smoking age from 18 to 21 has been shelved temporarily. If the measure goes through, it will help keep young adults from starting to smoke. We're doing a great job stopping adults from smoking but kids are another matter.

The state Board of Equalization has estimated that the state would lose approximately 3 percent of tobacco tax revenues if the measure goes through. The cigarette tax increase is enough of a deterrent. Eighteen is the age of adulthood.
