In some cases, there are instances where attorney-client conferences should be monitored to enforce the law. State officials understand ACLU concerns over inmate privacy and have implemented policy changes to address the issue.

The American Civil Liberties Union is fighting a prison's right to monitor any conversations between inmates and attorneys because they deserve to have "an absolute right to privacy." The right to have private attorney conversations must be preserved.
