A revised admissions policy at a California university allows applicants to be evaluated according to whether or not they have survived personal hardships. Those who have survived are seen as more worthy of the extra consideration and opportunities.

This supposed "race-neutral" policy is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to disguise already outlawed racial preferences. Instead of pitying and penalizing those who have been more fortunate, we should honor their academic success.
