The state Dept. of Education has declared some forms of home-schooling illegal, outraging many that choose to teach their children at home. Studies show that home schooling is an adequate if not superior form of teaching kids. The state should butt out.

Non-credentialed parents who home-school should be subject to criticism from the state. The state DOE merely wants parents to know that unless there is an accredited tutor, charter school or independent program involved, students are considered truant.
