Spend Tobacco Settlement Money on Health-Related Programs Rather Than College Scholarships?
Polls Have Closed

YES
The tobacco settlement money was always intended to go toward health-related programs. Scholarships have nothing to do with health
NO
Settlement money should be used where it's needed most. With falling state revenues, it's important that money be set aside for education

A proposal has been put forth that would force the state to use approximately $300 million annually from tobacco settlement money on nursing homes, hospitals, and other health-related programs. The money is there to boost health care in the state.

State revenue has been falling for the last year so it's important to keep settlement money open for uses not related to health care. College scholarships are very important to the future of the state. Money should be set aside for that purpose.
