Iain Duncan Smith has taken several steps to dispel the party's image as elitist and bigoted. He regularly catches the prime minister on the hop during their weekly clashes, and he has kept the lid on the Europe debate on his own back benches.
 

After a year of Mr Duncan Smith's leadership, it appears that little has changed for the Tories. The Conservative Party is still languishing in the polls and shows no signs of being able to stage a comeback that would allow the party to beat Labour.
