Polls Have Closed

YES
If same-sex partners are getting special benefits, opposite-sex nonmarried couples shouldn't be treated any differently
NO
We have to draw the line somewhere. Opposite-sex couples can always get married, but gay couples don't have that option

The Purdue University board of trustees has approved a plan to offer full benefits to same-sex partners of university employees and some are demanding the same rights for opposite-sex nonmarried couples. Gays shouldn't receive special treatment.

These benefits don't give gays "special treatment." They only give gays the same benefits that had, until now, only been available to married heterosexual couples. Giving the benefits to unmarried opposite-sex couples would be costly and needless.
