		Should Congress buy fishing boats & gear and scrap them?					Too many boats are chasing too few fish, depleting fish stocks and leaving fishermen broke. This proposal would solve the problem

Both fishermen and environmentalists support this proposal. The once-thriving West Coast fishing industry is crumbling. Fish stocks are at record lows and fishermen can no longer make a living; there are simply too many boats chasing too few fish.

This proposal would be a great idea - if only we lived in a world where cost wasn't a factor. Why should taxpayers fund a program that will only benefit one industry, especially when the government is drowning in debt and more deficits are looming?
