According to a new congressional report, many airlines fail to check safety records and qualifications of pilots they hire. This must stop. It's time Congress and the FAA implemented tougher background checks for pilots. It's the only way to be safe.

 		 Currently, airlines are required to take several steps to make certain pilots are who they say they are. If the regulations were followed, there wouldn't be any need for new rules. Adding tougher background checks would only clog up the system.
