A proposed New York City law would require family-oriented venues that serve more than 250 people to install baby-changing tables in all restrooms by the beginning of 2004. This is a much-needed change for the nation's restaurants, museums and parks.

These fold-out units are not the best use of time and/or space. Perhaps the baby-crazed baby boomers need to understand that any child requiring diapering is probably too young to be schlepped around to these establishments in the first place.
