Approve Bush's plan to speed low-cost generic drug access?
Polls Have Closed

YES
Patent protections on brand-name drugs are keeping prices too high. Bush's plan would bring low-cost generic drugs to the market faster
NO
There are many loopholes in Bush's plan. Without specific guidelines defining enforcement of the rules, the entire plan is worthless

President Bush has proposed new regulations designed to help get generic drugs to the market faster. All too often, drug companies drag out patent protections on brand-name drugs, making it harder for generic drugs to make it to consumers.

Bush's plan is a last minute election ploy. It doesn't go far enough to spell out specific ways to enforce new rules, and has loopholes that would allow new patent holders to delay generic drugs from reaching the market. A more detailed plan is needed.
