NBA VP Stu Jackson has ruled that the Kings players who cleared the bench during a brawl would not be punished. Yet the rules clearly state that in the event of a fight, all players are supposed to stay in the vicinity of the bench area.

 		 The rule against leaving the bench "was not intended to apply in a highly unusual situation like this one," Jackson said. "Our judgment was that the players who left the bench were attempting to break up the fight and did not escalate the altercation."
