Nam Tei Electronics requested a subpoena that would compel AOL to hand over information on one of its subscribers and a Virginia Supreme Court agreed. When a user breaks the law, they lose rights all rights to anonymous free speech.

Internet privacy laws are still in their infancy, but one thing is for certain: users have a right to speak anonymously online. AOL should not be compelled to give up personal user information, nor should any other Internet provider.
