Everyone who buys a firearm should be licensed |

Legal gun owners shouldn't be regulated this way |
|||||||||
| Currently, people need a license to drive a car, but not to buy a gun Vice President Al Gore promises that, if elected president, he will seek a nationally mandated system of photo licensing for all potential handgun purchases. Under the system, those who seek to buy a gun would have to apply for a license just as those who seek to drive a car do. The license would only be granted after they'd passed a background check, which would weed out felons and the mentally ill. The Gun Control Act of 1968 states that some types
of people simply don't have the right to keep and bear arms. This includes
those convicted of a felony, illegal drug users, and persons convicted of
domestic violence crimes. |
